Another important factor contributing to the in-
creased consumption of these products is an actual
increase in the use of biocides by companies which
previously did not use them at the appropriate
levels and are now improving the quality of their
products by extending their durability. In addition,
the global environmental appeal has been com-
pelling a lot of companies to change the bases of
some of their products, requiring greater quan-
tities of additives which provide protection from
microbiological degradation.
