trating its kaolins through a lecture provided by
its chief executive officer Roberto Rocha.

DMC wants absolute leadership
After effectively integrating Rohm and Haas’ bu-
siness into Dow, thereby creating the Dow Micro-
bial Control (DMC) business unit, the company is
preparing to tackle the challenge of leading all
segments of the market that it serves, growing
65 percent worldwide by 2012, while keeping on
developing innovative products, placing empha-
sis on people-friendly and environment-friendly
technologies. Towards that end, Dow introduced in
September the regional structures of DMC, reaffir-
ming that its primary growth strategy is to serve
several markets, keeping focus on customers and
combining the knowledge and expertise of the two
companies.
“The new business has the most comprehensive
product range in the global performance assets
industry, as well as analytical and microbiolo-
gical testing facilities, combining knowledge of
the market and regulations,” said Mark Henning,
general manager at SMC. According to him, one
of the challenges facing the industry is to provide
biocides that are safe and environmentally friendly
(formaldehyde-free, for example), but at competiti-
ve costs.
