It’s time to celebrate
The 154
th
issue of Paint & Pintura Magazine brings you a special report on the 1
st
Paint & Pintura Coatings Te-
chnology Forum for the Northeast Region, a successful event which exceeded all expectations. With 212 partici-
pants, the Forum was anointed by the Northeastern paint industry an indispensable function for a region that
lacks in technological information.
Brazil is one of the world’s top-five paint markets, and its Northeast region stands out for the great potential
for growth that it has to offer to the country, as it is an important paint producer and consumer center with
87 manufacturers, 32 of which located in the State of Ceará, more specifically in the Greater Fortaleza area.
To provide a notion, the Northeast region’s paint consumption for 2010 amounted to 190 million liters, and
both production and consumption have been growing each year. For the next few years, those figures tend to
grow even faster due to the massive investments that are being made in several industries within the region,
such as petrochemicals, iron and steel, chemicals, footwear, mining, textiles, furniture, energy, travelling, te-
lecommunications and information technology, among others. In a nutshell, countless projects are underway
and will trigger many other investments, bringing about a definitive change in the region’s economic profile.
The Northeast’s time has come indeed!
Also in this issue, readers of the entire paint value chain will be able to check out the much-awaited list of

th
edition of the Paint & Pintura Survey of Suppliers to the Paint Industry in various cate-
gories, including Advertisement of the Year and Master Company, as well as the best paint companies in the

anniversary, toge-

all industries, particularly the paint industry. “The
Northeast has a great growth potential, and this is
way we are holding this event. I hope this is the first
in a series of events that we intent to bring to the re-
gion, as I was surprised by the high level and quality
products that the companies here in the Northeast
have to show in the paint market,” he said.
The official opening lecture on the theme “Economic
Profile of the Northeast Region: Current Scenario
and Growth Prospects” was delivered by Jânia Maria
