Industry in the Spotlight - 20 years of quantiQ
quantiQ, a company with solid business in the prin-
ting inks, decorative paints, automotive finishes,
protective, coatings, wood coatings and automotive
refinish market segments, is celebrating 20 years of
existence in the market, on path market by several
factors which determine a story of victory. In 2001,
the company decided to stop focusing on solvents and
oils, and started pursuing a strategy for the period
from 2001 through 2005 with the following goals: to
be a diversified company, focusing on life sciences; to
do business and structure organized itself by market
segment; and to build the logistic infrastructure re-
quired for sustaining its growth for 10 years.
Other important highlights of quantiQ’s accomplish-
ments since then include the opening of a Distribu-
tion center in Guarulhos in 2004, kicking of the new
strategy, the 2005 acquisition of Forlab, breaking
into the pharmaceuticals, the creation of the Che-
mical, Lifescience and Services groups, the new
structure of the company’s board of directors,
which was implemented in 2010, and the merger
of Unipar Comercial into the company in January
2011. “This series of facts has increased quantiQ’s
revenues from US$ 60 million in 1991 to US$ 410
million in 2010, with a US$ 670-million forecast
for 2011. Just as noteworthy in our history was
the spin-off of the Polymers Business, which crea-
ted Varient and posed the challenge of recovering
R$ 250 million worth of revenues,” says quantiQ’s
president Fernando Rafael Abrantes.
Industry in the Spotlight - Five years on the
road
Brisco stated out in 2005 as a distributor of a
wide range of specialty and commodity chemicals,
as well as thermoplastics. With the experience
he gained in the chemical industry, Brisco’s sales
director Guillermo Castilho decided to make a dre-
am come true and established the company five
years ago. “I was lucky to start the business from
scratch, and right now success is happening. I can
say that Brisco is a personal dream come true. A
built up a lot of experience working for other
companies, but I always wanted to start my own
business and serve each customer in personalized
fashion, and I think this is why we’ve succeeded
in building a loyal customer base and becoming
partners, as we ensure not only good prices, but
also quality products and services,” says Guillermo
Castillo.

zed service from the outset. “Brisco is committed to

in a secure, efficient and profitable manner, the-
reby satisfying our customers, partners, employees
and the community. In addition to products, we
provide storage, logistics and distribution, national
and international representation, importation and
exportation, separation and drum filling services.
Today we have a fully automated system that em-
ploys state-of-the-art technology not only for basic
raw materials, but also warehouses and structure,”
Castillo points out.
