PAINT & PINTURA
and solvent-based. Ideal for the
formulation of waterborne con-
centrates without resin)”, highli-
ght José Henrique Z. Fejfar, sales
supervisor at Ata Tensoativos.
Bandeirante Brazmo
Bandeirante Brazmo will present
important news during 2011
Abrafati. “We will highlight
at the fair the sustainable and
innovative chemical solutions to
qualify its ink formulations of
the future; solid acrylic resins of
Elvacite line, to give special effects
to its formulations, the innovative
product line for flexographic sys-
tems formulations, the releases of
Byk additives line for waterborne
and solvent systems, and styrene
maleic resins for the coatings ma-
rket. Resins SMA (styrene maleic)
has multiple applications, espe-
cially the ability to act as poly-
meric surfactants for pigments in
waterborne systems in alkaline,
acid and neutral medium.. They
are used to increase the thermal
resistance of varnish acrylic-base
on waterborne and solvent sys-
tems; act as polymeric dispersant
for carbon black in waterborne
systems, matting agent in powder
coatings, coatings formulations
for removable bases (alkalis) and
many other applications”, says
Gerardo Victal, commercial direc-
tor at Bandeirante Brazmo.
BASF
BASF is going to exhibit the hi-
ghlights of its raw materials for
paints and coatings, ranging from
acrylic dispersions and specialty
monomers to effect pigments.
The main products on display are
those which focus on optimizing
paint production and the final
aspect of the applied paint. These
include the Mearlin, Firemist and
Lumina, Acronal and EFKA bran-
ds, 1,6-hexanediol (HDO), butyl
acrylate, and Disponil, AFX and
Disponil FES lines. Butyl acrylate
is used for producing polymers
and chemical syntheses, the basis
for producing resins and emul-
sions for the paint industry.
The most important of the inter-
mediate chemicals division’s pro-
duct groups include amines, diols,
polyalcohols, acids and special-
ties. Among other applications,
intermediates are used as starting
materials for coatings, plastics,
pharmaceuticals, textile fibers, de-
tergents and crop protectants. In-
novative intermediates from BASF
help to improve the properties of
end products and the efficiency of
production processes
Mearlin, Firemist and Lumina are
new lines of effect pigments for
automotive coatings and decora-
tive paints, where they impart a
glossy effect to the coated surface.
BASF also provides performance
acrylic and styrene-acrylic disper-
sions, such as the Acronal line for
paints, putties, textured coatings,
varnishes and others. To further
complement its portfolio, BASF
has incorporated Cognis’ EFKA
line of dispersants and wetting
agents for pigments.
Baston
Chemicolor is one of the ink lines
that fastest grows in Brazil. It has
in its portfolio of ink products for
general use, metal, luminous, high
temperature and also for crafts,
all with the ease and convenien-
ce of the spray and fast drying.
Baston goes to 2011 Abrafati with
great news in its line, the Chemi-
color paint for painting plastics
especially formulated for flat sur-
faces. This product is an excellent
choice of finishes in indoor and
outdoor plastic materials exposed
to weather, without requiring use
of funds or primer for fixing.
Bayer
Bayer MaterialScience will intro-
duce in 2011 Abrafati its line of
waterborne and extremely solid
systems, with special focus on
anti-corrosion market. It also will
be present with a portfolio for the
adhesives industry, with empha-
sis on waterborne polyurethane
polymers with low activation tem-
perature, suitable for use in the
formulation of contact adhesives
and wet glue. Additionally, will be
presented the silane-terminated
polyurethanes for sealants formu-
lations.
The company’s experts will speak
on current and important issues,
such as polyaspartic systems for
corrosion protection market, and
in the Radtech event, which runs
parallel to the paint congress, you
see the UV cure technology to re-
pair floors in applied substrates.
Bomix
For the 2011 edition, Bomix is
going to bring its 18-liter rec-
tangular buckets, which have
overcome important barriers in
the demanding market for deco-
rative paints. “We have expanded
the family of this innovatively-
-shaped containers. The 3.6 and
12-liter rectangular containers
have been added, and can be used
with paints, waterproof coatings
and complements, combining the
sturdiness, practicality and func-
tionality of round containers with
the logistic advantages that only
rectangular designs can provide,”
says Sergio Weiss, Marketing Ma-
