During his speech, Sintirj’s president stressed the new features that
the entity ’s board is preparing to improve the service for its members,
such as the redesigning of the union’s website to make it even easier
for users to access information. The most important piece of news
was the purchase of Sintirj’s new headquarters, which will be built
in the Nova América shopping mall and delivered by 2013. “The new
headquarters are in an excellent location, and its infrastructure will
enable the union to hold events for up to 200 people.”
The ceremony also included a tribute to the entity ’s former president
Guilherme de Souza Pires, who died last year. José Carlos Soeiro Pin-
to, of Tintas Vinci, who worked closely with Guilherme for nearly 50
years, pointed out his efforts to improve the industry and his active
role during the years for which he presided over the union. Following
the speech, Guilherme’s daughter Raquel Pires received the honor in
memory of her late father.
Polystell Launches Special Pigment for Decorative Paints
New research efforts have been incorporating nano-particle materi-
als into products that provide optimal value for money, while pre-
serving the physicochemical properties of formulations. This is the
case with PolyTiO, a nano-encapsulated special pigment for decora-
tive paints developed by Polystell from synthetic and natural materi-
als and technologically prepared through polymer encapsulation pro-
cesses to bolster opacity, i.e. the refraction index and hiding power of
the white pigment (titanium dioxide).
According to chemical engineer Wildon Lopes, Polystell CEO, the new
product provides manufacturers of decorative paints with benefits
that include the possibility of partially replacing titanium dioxide (10
to 30 percent in weight) with no adjustments required to the for-
mulation process. “The main features of PolyTiO include the partial
replacement (10 to 30 percent in weight) of titanium dioxide with no
changes to the formulation or process, improved wet and dry hiding
power, rheology (the viscosity and thixotropy of the original formula-
tion) unchanged, no interference with the system’s pH, easy disper-
sion, outstanding cost-benefit ratio (depending on addition rate,
costs reduced by up to 15 percent), increase in paint PVC by 1 to 2
percent, enhanced paint quality, leveling and finish, and improved
washability, hold-out, gloss and scratch resistance in premium
paints,” he points out.
The new pigment is the result of more than five years of research at
the company ’s technical research and development laboratory using
