introduction of the POLITHERM 20 LI ANTICHAMA BRANCO SB flame-
-resistant powder coatings, the company developed liquid coatings
with the same flame-resistance properties, the WEGPOXI FRD 322
paint with two epoxy functional groups, and the WEGTHANE FRA 501
polyurethane finish. The three of them are formulated with a state-of-
-the-art technology which provides not only anticorrosive protection
and good-looking finish, but also flame-resistance to prevent any fire
from spreading and protection from excessive heat on hot or heat-
-radiating surfaces.
Well-suited to provide finish for flame-proof doors, panels, appliances
and other metallic items used in public, home and industrial environ-
ments, the products from this flame-resistant line have shown positive
results in tests run according to the international standards BS 476
Part 7 and DIN 4102-B2, which refers to fire propagation.
Launch - Coralis Launches ColorCatch
Coralis is introducing to the market the world’s first colorimeter de-
signed to catch colors and transfer them using wireless technology to
the Colormix.com color simulation application for iPhone, iPad or iPod
Touch. “ColorCatch is the world’s first colorimeter to measure colors
and transmit them via Bluetooth to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
for color simulation. It allows users to apply the captured color direc-
tly to an image, whether it’s a building, a wall, a dress, a car, etc.,”
says Coralis director Ricardo Gargalaca.
Using ColorCatch 3 and the Colorix.com application, the entire pro-
cess is completed in just two minutes and three steps: 1) take a photo
or get from your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch library an image that
someone’s sent you; 2) use ColorCatch 3 to select, measure and trans-
mit the actual color to your device; 3) apply the selected color to the
image. In less than two minutes, the image will be changed to the new
color. Once the image is ready, you can show it to a customer, e-mail it
or even use it to by some paint in the simulated color.
In the original manufacturer’s configuration, ColorCatch comes with
RAL and NCS colors, as well as the corresponding values in L*a*b*,
sRGB, CMYK and LRV. “But your independent colors or color scale can
be inserted onto the colorimeter and software for iPhone, iPad and
iPod Touch devices,” Gargalaca explains.

Sustainability - BASF’s 1st Energy Efficiency House in
Brazil
BASF has announced the groundbreaking for its first Energy Efficiency
House in Brazil, called CasaE, an innovative project that will be built
up in only six months using more sustainable materials and construc-
tion techniques. The initiative is announced in a time where inno-
vation in the industry requires extensive expertise, interdisciplinary
cooperation and in-depth understanding of
the paint value chain, relying on innovation
as a key frame of reference.
The house will be located on Avenida
Vicente Rao, south zone of São Paulo, and
will combine in one space technologies that
meet global requirements that are identified
by BASF as major challenges for the next
few years and will drive innovation and sus-
tainability processes in the company. They
include the concept of urbanization, with
branches in the building and construction
and home care industries, considering that
around 75 percent of the world’s population
will be living in cities by 2050.
