PAINT & PINTURA
for the region and the paint industry. It
is a region with a very high potential for
growth, where unsatisfied requirements and
deficits in housing and infrastructure are
much bigger than anywhere else in Brazil.
Nevertheless, the Northeast region is run-
ning furthest behind schedule as regards
the PAC (Portuguese initials for the federal
government’s Economic Growth Acceleration
Program), by around 49 percent, a none-
too-positive piece of information, and that
delay is due not only to shortage of money,
but also to the lack of technically consis-
tent projects, as well as management by the
municipal and state governments con-
cerned. That shows that a major challenge
facing Brazil, besides infrastructure-related
projects, is providing business and techni-
cal training for the workforce. For these and
other reasons, Agnelo Editora has set itself
the mission of travelling around Brazil to
hold these forums and bring along new technologies and new develop-
ments.”
Agnelo Editora’s chief executive officer also acknowledged the presence
of important personalities representing companies based in the regions
where the Paint & Pintura forums were held. “Today, this event is attended
by people coming from other regions, such as Fortaleza, the host city of
the 4th Paint & Pintura Forum, which took place on April 25 and 26. This
demonstrates that an integration process is going on in the paint market.
Many companies are really interested in providing products increasingly
compliant with the standards issued by the ABNT (Brazilian Association
for Technical Standards) and Abrafati’s Industry-Specific Quality Pro-
gram, especially small and medium-sized businesses based on the North-
east region, particularly in the state of Ceará, such that even a Paint
Testing Laboratory was opened in Fortaleza by Senai on occasion of that
forum.”
The CEO also mentioned Agnelo Editora’s newly launched Construchemi-
cal Magazine. “Brazil’s building and construction industry has a huge
growth potential. Construchemical is the only magazine in the world
directed at manufacturers of construction chemicals, contemplating the
markets in flooring systems and coatings, waterproofing coatings, putties,
cement, adhesives and sealants, among others.”
At the end of the award presentation ceremony, Agnelo Editora drew a
weekend stay for two at Hotel Itapemar, on Ilha Bela, São Paulo. The win-
ner was Camila Pecerini, product manager for Latin America for Evonik’s
Inorganic Materials business.
The ceremony was closed in grand style: the special attraction was a con-
cert by singer Paula Lima, who had just returned from a European tour.

4th Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology and Management Forum
Event in Fortaleza Honored by Attendance of People in the
Industry
Forum opens with attendance by 157 people, repeating the success of 1st
edition held in 2011
The 4th Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology and Management Forum for
the Northeast Region took place on April 25 and 26, hosted by Fortaleza,
Ceará for the second time, and had massive attendance by members of the
industry’s workforce from the entire region. The forum was held at Hotel
Blue Tree Premium Fortaleza, at the Iracema beach.
In his opening speech, Agnelo de Barros Neto, chief executive officer at
Agnelo Editora, stressed the rapid growth that the Northeastern mar-
ket has experienced over the past few years and its great potential for
the years to come. “The high demand from the country’s building and
construction industry will generate good deals for the paint industry,
especially in the Northeast region, where the industry has been displaying
two-figure growth rates lately. Therefore, it is essential for the workforce
to keep up with the paint and coatings industry’s new formulations and
management practices.”
