“Oscar” Shines upon Winners
The Paint & Pintura Magazine for the month of June is the most awaited issue of the year, as it brings complete, detailed informa-
tion on the presentation of the “Oscar” of the paint industry to winners arranged into 50 categories, 38 of which for suppliers,
seven for Best Paint Company, and five for Personality of the Year.
Held on May 4, the presentation ceremony of the 16th Paint & Pintura Awards was attended by 987 members of the paint indus-
try’s workforce from the country’s various regions. Read all of the details concerning the party and the awards presented on page
28, and check out the testimonies and photos of all winners, who were thrilled to be part of such an important event.
In addition, the Bandeirantes TV channel’s journalists and news hosts Nivaldo Prieto and Érica Reis led the program as masters of
ceremony, and singer Paula Lima put on a show to close the celebration.
This issue also brings you the coverage of another major event held by Agnelo Editora, the 4th Paint & Pintura Coatings Tech-
nology and Management Forum, which took place on April 25 and 26 in Fortaleza, Ceará, and was opened with 157 attendees,
repeating the success of its 1st edition, back in March 2011.
The forum comprised a diverse lecture program and an unprecedented activity on day two, when its attendees left the venue
heading for Senai Fortaleza for the opening of a Decorative Paint Testing Laboratory that will provide manufacturers all over the
Northeast region with paint quality assessment services.
Now, do you readers think that’s all? No way! Check out the details and the lecture program for the 5th Paint & Pintura Coatings
Technology and Management Forum for the Midwest Region, which will take place on June 14 in Goiânia, Goiás. The forum is yet
another initiative by Agnelo Editora, which has set itself the mission of traveling all over Brazil to set up these events and bring
along new technologies and new developments for the paint and coatings industry.
In fact, this is a more-than-special issue. In addition to all of these events for the industry, the magazine also brings you an
exclusive article telling the entire story that has been written over 50 years of success by Killing, a leading supplier of paints and
adhesives in the country’s South region which has always had the quality and superior performance of its entire product range as
hallmarks, while providing differentiated customer service.
Another featured article is brought to you by Cristina Kroll, our correspondent in Argentina, who provides an overview of the
Argentine paint market, including the restrictions on imports that have been imposed by the Argentine government and impact-
ing the industry. The article also outlines a profile of that industry’s leadership, indicates which of that country’s markets show
greater growth potential, and provides an outlook for the rest of the year.
In the interview section of this month’s issue, Paint & Pintura announces changes and new developments in the Union of Paint and
Coatings Manufacturers and Vegetable and Animal Oil Processers in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, locally best-known by the
Portuguese abbreviation Sintirj, such as the entity’s new president Alexandre Brito, who has been gaining more and more promi-
nence for his initiatives aimed at supporting existing members and getting new ones, so as to strengthen the entity and assert the
power of Rio de Janeiro’s paint market. He talks about the entity’s redesigned website, as well as his plans for the entity, the open-
ing of its new headquarters and the resulting benefits to its membership.
Last but not least, be sure to read our pieces on the markets for oils and derivatives and for adhesion promoters, featuring key
suppliers to the industry.
