current concern is to keep up this market
share by delivering differentiated products.”
Hidracor has a development laboratory
where it runs monthly quality tests on its
products, keeping superior quality standards
to compete with manufacturers large and
small. “Hence our pursuit of lower costs and
fight against waste in the plant. To give
you an idea, we are expanding our Lean Six
Sigma system by forming ‘belts’, i.e. experts
on waste fighting and process improvement,
because in order to provide the quality pro-
ducts that we propose to provide to a ma-
rket like ours, which is mostly a market for
economy products, we have to walk a thin
line between making those products and
achieving profitability from our brands.”
Investments
As a result of its substantial growth over
the years, Hidrocor has received massive
investments, thanks to which its capacity has been recently increased
by 20 percent. “It’s a very significant capacity considering the market
we serve, and further growth is expected. We have also mapped new
expansion plans according to the market response,” says Correia.
“We work hard because we believe people can make a difference with
simplicity and seriousness, and we’re also really obsessed with results,
so as to have our brand remembered and perceived by consumers as
one of the best options in terms of value for money and, especially,
available in several points of sale spread over the regions where we
operate,” Correia concludes.
Abrafati 2013 - Congress Features Innovative Studies
Over a hundred papers by experts from all parts of the world will be
presented at the 13th International Paint Congress (Abrafati 2013),
which will take place from September 16 to 18 at Transamérica Expo
Center, in São Paulo.
Altogether, 72 lectures will be delivered in the course of the three-day
congress, which will also include more than 50 papers at the Poster
section, presentations conducted by renowned experts at 4 Podium Dis-
cussions, and the Abrafati-RadTech Radiation Curing Seminar, provi-
ding attendees with an accurate overview of the present and future of
the paint industry. “The congress is focused on the innovations that are
driving the paint industry on its path to sustainable development. The
tone for the presentations will be set by state-of-the-art solutions that
are increasingly sustainable and in line with the theme that has perva-
ded all editions of the congress: designing the paint of the future,” says
Gisele Bonfim, technical and environmental manager at Abrafati.
Many improvements will be introduced for the 2013 edition of the
congress. The facilities and general organization are designed to
provide the best conditions for participants and attendees to engage
in theme discussions and gain knowledge. “One of the main innova-
tions is the breakdown of lecture themes by auditorium: auditoriums 1
and 5 will host lectures on resins and emulsions; lectures on pigments
will be delivered at auditorium 2; auditorium 3 will be the venue for
lectures on additives; auditorium 4 is reserved for lectures on solvents
and biocides; and lectures on environmental and other themes will be
presented at auditorium 6. This will make life easier for attendees, as
they will be able to follow the program for their respective themes of
interest without moving from one room to another with each passing
hour,” Gisele explains.
It is worth stressing that many novel ideas and research data, new
developments and recent findings related to paints and coatings will
be introduced at the trade show. “And this goes to both oral and poster
presentations, which means that anyone who wants to get an overview
of the state of the art and the future of science and technology in the
paint industry just must attend the congress,” Gisele remarks.
