New Developments Stir Up
Abrafati 2013
Along with the month of September comes issue no. 181 of Paint & Pintura Magazine, which brings you a myriad of newly-launched pro-
ducts and equipment for the paint and coatings market. I’m talking about 148 pages in Portuguese, English and Spanish that are totally de-
dicated to everything being shown at the 13th International Exhibition of Suppliers to the Paint Industry and International Paint Congress,
better known as Abrafati 2013, which is taking place from September 16 to 18 at Transamérica Expo Center, in São Paulo.
The event is boosting the search of innovative and sustainable solutions in a space consisting of 5 sections that cover an area of 28,000 squa-
re meters altogether, ensuring a much larger, better laid-out exhibit space, more comfort to its visitors and an exhibition extremely favorable
to the closing of new deals.
With world-leading suppliers and experts in attendance, Abrafati 2013 comprises more than 250 exhibitors, 72 technical lectures for the con-
gress, 13 lectures for the Abrafati-RadTech South America Conference on Radiation Curing, 4 podium discussions, and more than 50 papers
on display in the Poster Session area. In a nutshell, it’s a real showcase for thousands of innovative products, services, technologies, solutions
and developments.
Paint & Pintura Magazine has taken a head start and brings you a comprehensive preview of what is being presented by companies that
make a difference in the world of paints. In addition, we’ve gotten firsthand details and information on the trade show and congress throu-
gh a special interview with Dilson Ferreira, chief executive officer at Abrafati (short in Portuguese for Brazilian Association of Paint Manufac-
turers), the event organizer. Check out our exclusive account of everything the exhibitors are presenting during the three-day trade show.
This issue also brings you full coverage of the 11th Paint & Pintura Forum, which was held on August 7 and hosted for the first time by the
city of Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, receiving 110 registered professionals. Major companies in the paint industry contributed to the
technical lecture program for the forum, such as Cabot, Intertank, Polystell, Bandeirante Brazmo and M. Cassab, including special lectures
like “Overview of the Decorative Paint Industry in Southern Brazil,” “What Is Sustainability in the Paint Industry?,” and “Paint Formulation
Techniques Using Product Engineering.”
Another featured article covers the 8th Abrafati Paint Industry Forum, which took place on August 21 at Club Transatlântico, in São Paulo.
The Abrafati forum was focused on relevant themes for the paint supply chain, such as “Political and Economic Prospects in Brazil,” “Ma-
nufacturers of Chemicals and Key Raw Materials for the Paint Industry,” “Prospects for Building and Construction,” “Challenges Facing
Production and Sales of Automotive Coatings,” and “An Overview of Retail Construction Materials”. The last lecture, entitled “Reflections on
2013 and Expectations for the Next Year,” by Antonio Carlos Lacerda, chairman of Abrafati’s Management Board, was awaited with great
anticipation by the attendees. Check out all of the above and a lot more in this special issue!
Enjoy!
