Moving Towards Evolution
UK-based Thor, which started operating in 1959 and now has 14
subsidiaries spread around the world, has been banking on the
Brazilian market and investing massively in the past few years to
expand its facilities and product portfolio.
The company’s business is divided into three platforms: industrial
biocides, preservatives for personal care, and flame retardants.
“With 13 years of activities, Thor Brazil has been transitioning

introduced fungicide and algaecide lines. As our footprint
has obviously changed since then, we intend to capture a
significant share in the Brazilian market in the mid term,”
announces Thor Brazil’s business director Ridnei Brenna.
With these investments, Thor Brazil, which used to be
very dependent on imports from its head office and other
subsidiaries of the group, now produces blends and dilutes
active ingredients locally. “Industrial biocides areThor’s core
business all over the world, and it is in the industrial biocide
segment that we came to serve our customers in Brazil, so

we have only produced biocides for industrial applications,
such as bactericides, fungicides and algaecides, but starting
in April this year, we are going to expand our portfolio with
bactericidal and other blends for personal care products. To
that end, we are going to invest US$ 100,000 to adapt our
production facility,” Brenna says.
