Abrafati’s executive president also talks about the paint and
coatings industry and its reaction to the strong effects of the
economic crisis. “The crisis is taking its toll on our economy,
affecting also the sectorswe serve, such as housing, building
and construction, the automotive industry, and infrastructure
projects.Asallofthesesectorsgetaffected,paintsalesrespond
accordingly.”
Another important subject covered in this issue is theAbrafati
Forum,whichdiscussedthecurrentsituationandprospectsinthe
industry.Oneof themost important lecturesat the forumwas
“Prospects for theBrazilianEconomy”,deliveredbyeconomist
MailsondaNóbrega, formerMinisterof Finance,who said that
thesituation isgraveandwillgetworsebeforethetransitionto
agrowingeconomy iscompleted. “Nevertheless, theeconomy
tends to react.People inourcountryhavebeengrowingoverly
pessimisticabouttheeconomy,thinkingit’sfallinginabottomless
pit,but it isn’t,asBrazil’sprivatesector,with itsvigorandability
to react, isgoingtostartreacting.”
