PAINT & PINTURA AWARDS - WINNERS OF COATINGS INDUSTRY “OSCARS” ANNOUNCED The 22nd Paint & Pintura Awards ceremony took place on May 18 at Espaço Vila dos Ipês, in São Paulo, Brazil, where 726 guests were received representing companies across the coatings supply chain, as well as the brass of the industry’s leading associations. The grand annual event presenting what is known as the “Oscars” of the paint and coatings industry called on stage the 53 winners, who earned their trophies through stamina, dedication, ethics and professionalism, divided into 39 catego- ries for major suppliers of rawmaterials to the industry, eight for paint manufacturers, and six for Personality of the Year. Addressing the audience to kick of the event, Agnelo de Barros Neto, chief executive of the publishing house Agnelo Editora, announced firsthand the Não Conforme, Sem Informe or, roughly, “No Compliance, No Ad” campaign, which aims to contribute to improvement in the coatingsmarket. “Fromhere on out, Agnelo Editora will not accept any ads or publish any news on products that fail to meet the requirements set forth by the relevant regulating entities, such as ABRA- FATI, with its industry-specific quality program known as PSQ, and INMETRO (short for National Institute of Metrology). It’s an irrevocable decision meant to com- bat unfair practices against consumers that occur in the industry, thereby contributing to establishing a fair and responsible marketplace.” Up next came Abrafati’s executive president Antonio Carlos de Oliveira, who praised the announced cam- paign and pointed out in his speech that the companies and professionals being presented with Paint & Pintura Awards all provide great examples of how to grow the industry andmake it move forward. “They play a key role in having paints and coatings deliver increasingly higher quality and better results to their users, whether they are end consumers or other industries. Not only do these companies pursue quality, they also invest in innovation, differentiation, sustainability, and customer relations. They seek to keep up with trends and anticipate the demands from both the marketplace and society. They aspire to improve continuously, to dazzle, to overcome limits. That’s the spirit we want to see prevail in the coa- tings supply chain, so that we can move forward on the path to development in a sustained and sustainable way. In this rapidly ever-changing environment wherewe live, need to blaze new trails. With that inmind, the examples set by the awardwinners here tonight aremost certainly a good source of inspiration.” During the event, Marco Antônio Ferreira Soares, pre- sident of the Union of Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Oil Distillation and Refining Industries in the State of Ceará (known for short in Portuguese as Sindquímica), which is affiliatedwith the Ceará State Industries Federation (FIEC, the initials in Portuguese), took time to pay homage to Agnelo de Barros Neto for his dedication, efforts, and the contribution he makes, on behalf of the paint and coatings industry in Ceará. At the close of the award presentation ceremony, Agne- lo Editora drew out a weekend for two at Casa Grande Hotel Resort & Spa, in the trendy beach city of Guarujá, São Paulo. The lucky winner was Maria Cristina Kobal Campos de Carvalho, innovation and technology director at Renner Sayerlack. Hosting the award night was the journalist, TV host and master of ceremony Juliana Franceschi Bento, who is currently on the SBT and TV Esporte channels. The night was wrapped up on a cheerful note by the band New Times Celebration. Learn in this issue who were the winners of the 22nd Paint &PinturaAwards, as shown the Portuguese version.
