CLIPPING 8 | PAINT&PINTURA | Abril 2019 will allow for sustainable development. For them to be able to deliver, it is necessary for the government to first pass in Congress the reforms and adjustments those goals require,” says Rubens Medrano, President of the Brazilian Association of Chemical and Petrochemical Distributors and Union of São Paulo State Chemical and Petrochemical Wholesalers (known for short in Portuguese as Associquim-Sincoquim). Medrano adds that distribution is a dynamic line of business. “Due to its diversity in products andmanufacturing activities, which make up the business portfolio of distributors, there isn’t one recipe for strategic actions to lead distributors to perform well. Nevertheless, the do need to be always wa- tching for nuanced changes in the market place and keep up the excellence of their products to serve their business partners well.” The chemical distribution industry has made great strides. “Companies have engaged in a process of maturing and pro- fessionalizing their management, developing the capabilities of their technical and sales staff, adding value by providing after-sales services, as well as safe and effective logistics to have their products delivered to the most varied of manu- facturing customers located throughout Brazil’s national territory,” Medrano concludes. PACKAGING MATERIALS - INTERMEDIATE BULK CONTAINERS: STURDY AND HIGH-TECH Intermediate bulk containers are recognized across the paint and coatings industry as safe, quality packaging materials featuring numerous advantages. The past several years has seen stagnation across industries, but a reversal of that scenario appears to have begun in 2018, when therewas an increased demand for industrial packaging materials, especially come the second half. “With the eco- nomic upswing expected for 2019, Schütz Vasitex expects business to grow not only thanks to a growing demand for standard products, but also due to products recently laun- ched from the Schütz Group—specialty IBCs for a variety of specific applications,” says Schütz Vasitex chief executive Luiz Francisco da Cunha. Intertank is also expecting significant growth in this market in containers for hazardous and high-risk products. “With the elections behind us, the optimistic atmosphere that ensued in the market helps us believe that, at long last, more efficient legislation will be passed covering a breadth of general user safety issues. The publication of a new ANTT (National Land Transportation Agency) Resolution regulating the entire land transportation sector, as already announced to have been scheduled for December 16, 2019, will cause the in- dustry to come up with technologically modern solutions, both in talk and in action,” says Henri Gonçalves, manager for the OnShore business.
