CLIPPING PAINT&PINTURA | Dezembro 2019 | 9 used as curing agent, aswell as chemical strength, flexibility and good appea- rance, among other properties. There are applications in which polyurethane paints are fundamental, such as outdoor paintjobs, where they can cure at room temperature,” said Marion. Whilemuch of the demand is focused on cheaper products, polyurethane resins have gained some steam in formulations in Brazil, according to Stahl Performan- ce Coatings business manager Anelice Mariath. “Growthwill materialize to the extent that the performance of water- borne PU systems match and, in some cases, even exceed that of solvent- -based resins. We believe the demand is growing and will continue to do so and the use of polyurethane technology expands. To be sure, using polyurethane resins is a smart choice, and more and more businesses will be making it over the next several years. The demand for more sophisticated products, such as more durable VOC-free systems, keeps increasing,” Mariath said. INDUTIL CELEBRATES 60-YEAR ANNIVERSARY Indutil celebrated its 60 years of existence together with customers, partners and friends on November 12, at the headquarters of the São Paulo State Heavy Industry Union (Sinicesp for short in Portuguese), in São Paulo’s Pinheiros district, where the entity itself was also celebrating its 50-year anniversary. On the occasion, Sinicesp president Luiz Albert Kamilos talked about how important the Indutil is to the industry. “We, at Sinicesp, are greatly pleased to celebrate at our headquarters such a significant date for Brazil’s highway system. It’s an undisputed fact that, since its foun- ding back in 1959, Indutil has held on to its leadership position. Getting to this point was certainly not a cake walk. They had major challenges to tackle so they could provide quality products developed through extensi- ve research into components and the creation of new materials that have enabled them to offer a comprehen- sive product range for road marking and signaling, whose main purpose is to provide safety and security to users of urban streets and highways in Brazil,” Kamilos said. After Sinicesp’s president opening speech, Luis Carlos Martire, one of the founders of Indutil, gave thanks for the recognition and stressed the importance of the union. “Sinicesp provides an outstanding service por- tfolio to support all of its members, among them presenting technical and industry-specific informative lectures aimed at discussing struc- tural changes in both the State of São Paulo and Brazil,” Martire said. Martire went on to say that these past 60 years have been life story. “What gets us excited is to con- tribute to making Brazil a better country, where roads and highways are safer and which give everybody who’s involved a chance to succeed. I wish our efforts will continue and our customers will keep acknowled- ging our hard work on research and development, because it’s thanks to them that we create high-quality products.”
