Congratulations to
the winners
The June issue of Paint & Pintura Magazine brings you full coverage of the 15th Paint & Pintura Awards, in-
cluding photos and testimonies by the winners. Attended by approximately a thousand guests, the event gains
more recognition each year as the “Oscar” of the paint industry. And as Agnelo Editora’s chief executive officer
Agnelo de Barros Neto said in his speech during the ceremony, the 15th Paint & Pintura Awards were a reason
for the whole market to be proud, rather than just Agnelo Editora, as it is the market that enables and makes
the event happen, including sponsoring and supporting companies, winners, the industry’s related entities, the
companies which answered the survey and the professionals in the industry, who have contributed to making
the 15th edition a great success. Agnelo Editora thanks all of those who contributed in any way to the mate-
rialization of the event, and congratulates the winners and finalists.
Those involved in the paint market are also presented with a special report on the Mid-West region, where the
2nd Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology Forum will take place on June 29 and 30, 2011 in Goiânia, Goiás.
The report brings highly important data concerning the industry in the region, as well as information on the
leading local paint manufacturers.
The paint business is one of those which have been developing substantially in the Brazilian Mid-West for the
last decade. The demand in building and construction has led to a widespread of paint companies, which cur-
rently amount to more than 30 paint plants in Goiás competing for the regional market with major players. In
Goiás and the Federal District alone, the paint production is estimated at 100 to 120 million liters per year.
This issue also brings you reports on hydrocarbon solvents, with solutions and innovations using green raw
materials, carbon blacks, which are key pigments for formulating paints with properties that meet market
requirements, and maritime and offshore coatings, a market that is expanding by virtue of the upswing in the
ship-building industry, bringing high expectations to manufacturers of maritime coatings.
Other highlights include the interviews with Fernando Figueiredo, Abiquim’s new chief executive officer, and
Jaap Kuiper, president of AkzoNobel for South America. Check it out!
