of inland waterways, there is only one recreational boat in for every 3,600

the United States one for every 18 people.
The nation’s fleet currently amounts to 63,000 fiberglass boats longer than

Industry & Business - Arpol strikes partnership with Red Spot
Paint
This year, Arpol Tintas, a Brazilian company specializing in manufactur-
ing protective coatings for the automotive, bicycle, motorcycle, engineer-
ing plastics, banking automation and other industries, is celebrating 25
years of business and, as part of such celebration, has announced the
sale of 40 percent of its shares to Red Spot Paint, a major supplier of
automotive coatings in the US market, and part of the Japanese group
Fujikura Kasei Co.
As a result, the company is changing its name to Arpol Red Spot Tintas
and implementing a new structure where its management is shared un-
der the leadership of two executives from Arpol, namely, Narciso Moreira
Preto, as CEO, and Rafael Moreira Preto, as managing officer in charge
of the Red Spot BU.
For eight years Arpol Tintas has been the exclusive distributor of Red
Spot Paint products for the Brazilian market, and the line of thermal-
curing coatings is produced by Arpol in Brazil. Now, however, following
the acquisition, not only will Arpol carry on with its local production of
that line, it will also produce UV-curing varnishes in Brazil. That will
deliver significant gains in logistics and job creation, as well as faster
growth in business for the company.
“It’s a partnership that certainly will improve our access to the cutting-
edge technologies used in coatings for auto interior parts and UV-curing
varnishes. In addition, not only will we see our business grow, we’ll be
backed up by companies with expertise on the market, as we’re going to
be a member of the Global Alliance, a business alliance between the com-
panies Fujikura Kasei and Red Spot Paint, and also UK-based company
Sonnebron & Rieck,” Narciso and Rafael remark.
According to the officers, just as well as the automotive coatings pro-
duced by Arpol, this additional locally-produced line of UV-curing
varnishes will be in line with the application technology and services
from the Global Alliance companies, which own state-of-the-art labora-
tories in several parts of the world that enable them to provide high-end
technical support. This means that the product made in Brazil by Arpol
will match all competing products produced in other countries in quality,
which includes their approval by leading auto makers.
