plication process. With Celanese’s
Ecovae technology, there no need
to wait three hours after applying
the paint anymore to breath
smoothly again. All without
compromising key performance
attributes, such as scrub resistan-
ce, good hiding power and good
color retention, among others,
allowing paint manufacturers to
keep up their quality standards,”
notes Romeu Pereira Filho, Busi-
ness Manager at Celanese Emul-
sion Polymers.
Cerviflan
Cerviflan will introduce two inno-
vations in metal cans for buildin-
gs paints: the inclusion of necking
in the 1/16 packaging, and a
reduction in the welding in the
one of 18 liters. In the first case,
the initiative helps both paint ma-
nufacturers, retailers and consu-
mers. Informal surveys have iden-
tified in the point of sale that the
1/16 cans are the ones that suffer
the most damage and falls due to
stacking problems. With the pre-
sence of the new item - a support
placed at the bottom of the can
- the storage is easier not only in
the store, but in the consumer’s
home. Another advantage is the
reduction of waste. The Cerviflan,
moreover, was the first to produce
packaging with necking.
The company also pioneered the
weld space reduction on 18 liters
can. This change favors, espe-
cially, the marketing calls for bet-
ter and increased exposure of the
label product without the interfe-
rence of the weld. Innovations are
examples Cerviflan commitment
to bring to market what is most
modern in the industry. “Remem-
ber that was we who launched in
1982, the electric welding of cans,
enabling greater security and
strength of the packaging, and
the sustainability factor, since it
replaced the tin-lead weld,” says
company’s chief executive, Vicente
Lozargo Filho.
Chamfer
Chamfer has 25 years in the
packaging industry, creating and
developing solutions to its cus-
tomers. In 2011 Abrafati will be
introducing its packaging line
considering several volumetric
capacity. Its manufacture and de-
coration are designed in modern
equipment, ensuring the quality
of its products.
Clariant
Clariant will present products of
the Pigments, Additives, Emul-
sions and Industrial Application
business units. Supplier of organic
pigments, pigment preparations
and dyes, has lines of pigment
preparations for waterborne
and solvent based systems from
Colanyl, Hostatint and Solutint
brands. Provides high opacity
pigments from Hansa, Perma-
nent, Novoperm and Hostaperm
brands, which replaces inorganic
pigments based on heavy metals.
Another prominence is the ED Pig-
ments line, which facilitates the
pigments dispersion in the manu-
facture of decorative and indus-
trial paints. With the acquisition
of the Italian Italtinto, Clariant
is offering the whole package of
tinting systems.
Clariant has a broad portfolio of
additives, including the following
products: Ceridust, micronized
waxes for PE, PP and composi-
tions; Licowax, PE/PP wax Licoce-
ne, metallocene waxes; Hostavin,
UV and HALS absorbers and its
compositions; Hostanox, antioxi-
dants and process stabilizers for
powder paints, and Exolit, non-
-halogenated flame retardants.
Among the releases, it is worth to
highlight: Licocene PE MA 4351
(for powder paints); Ceridust 3141
TP (multipurpose wax for printing
inks); Ceridust 6050 M (for powder
paints); Ceridust 7820 (for pow-
der paints); Ceridust 8020 TP (for
wood paints ) and Ceridust 8330
TP (for printing inks in general).
Clariant will also participate with
a lecture at the Poster Session,
“New waxes for powder and wood
coatings”, taught by Tobias Nie-
derleitner, Technical Manager at
Business Line Waxes, TM Formula-
tors/Coatings/Inks.
Clariant offers a wide range of
Mowilith emulsions. The company
will launch its new line of terpoly-
mers with excellent cost-benefit
relationship. It is worth noting
the following products: Terpoly-
mer Mowilith LDM 2466 (has an
excellent compatibility with all
kinds of thickener); Terpolymer
Mowilith LDM 2250 (can be used
for high-performance coatings on
various substrates); and Terpoly-
mer Mowilith LDM 2251 (develo-
ped for special applications such
as DTM, anti-corrosion coatings
and decorative for metal).
For the paint industry, Clariant
promotes emulsifiers for polyme-
rization, dispersing agents and
humectants as well as biocides.
The main prominence are a new
technology in biocides that allows
the development of products with
fungicide and algaecide perfor-
mance; the JMAC line, which acts
