The conference comprised a diverse lecture program and was sponsored by
Cabot, BASF, Bandeirante Brazmo, Eastman, D’Altomare, Inkmaker, Bomix,
Alcolina, Tríplice Cor, Arch Lonza, Momentive, Grace, Netzsch, Miracema-
Nuodex and Makeni. The technical lectures on the program for the forum
included a presentation by Nilo Martire Neto, of Eritram Paint Consultancy,
on the theme “Technology Trends in Protective Coatings,” and a lecture de-
livered by Thaís Zogbi, of Zogbi Bertolami & Sant’Ana, on “The Adjustment
of Industrial Businesses for Compliance with the Requirements Imposed
by the National Police on Solid Waste: Solid Waste Management Plan and
Reverse Logistics.”
Laboratory
At the end of day two, the forum attendees went out for a visit to Senai
Fortaleza (Antônio Urbano de Almeida Trade Learning Center) to honor
the opening of the Decorative Paints Testing Laboratory, which is going
to provide manufacturers all over the Northeast region with paint quality
assessment services.
According to Ailton Rino Grando, director of Sindquímica and one of the
idealizers of the laboratory, the lab team will run tests on economy, stan-
dard and premium decorative paints, leveling putties and synthetic enamels
with a view to meeting the growing demand for quality from building and
construction, in line with the Industry-Specific Quality Program for Deco-
rative Paints. “Our tests will be conducted by skilled technical staff with a
commitment to quality and safety in their business and in accordance with
the technical standards issued by the ABNT (Brazilian Association for Tech-
nical Standards),” he stresses.
The forum was backed by Senai Fortaleza and Sindquímica, and also by such
paint companies as Cores do Brasil, ColorMil, Decor, Eco Tintas, FortColor,
Fortex, Fortfix, Geocor, Hidracor, Hidrafort, Hidrotintas, Hipercor, Tintas
Iquine, Norlux, Plavinorte, StarLux, Veloflex and Verbras.

The Paint & Pintura regional forums provide customers with an opportunity
to contribute to its mission of bringing to Brazil’s most important regions
the best there is in terms of technology and innovation for the paint,
adhesive and construction chemical industries, imparting to the industry’s
workforce the most relevant market information by means of seminars, dis-
cussions, lectures and conferences, not to mention the great opportunity to
interact, exchange experiences and enhance knowledge.
The upcoming forums will be held in Goiânia, Goiás (June 13 and 14), Vi-
tória, Espírito Santo (September 12 and 13), and Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo
(October 2 and 3).
