P&P Events Are Successul
Around the Country
Exceeding the expectations of both the market and its organizer, Latincoat & Adhesives 2012 stirred up the Porto Alegre
Metropolitan Region, Rio Grande do Sul on August 8 and 9 at the FIERGS (Rio Grande do Sul State Industries Federation)
Convention Hall.
The event was attended by 337 registered representatives of local paint and adhesive manufacturers. That was a rather sig-
nificant number of attendees, who seized the opportunity to establish important business contacts and get acquainted with
the most innovative product and equipment technologies in the industries, with focus on sustainability.
Previously held in the State of São Paulo and now for the first time in Rio Grande do Sul, Latincoat & Adhesives has been
successfully achieving its goal of spreading knowledge of the paint and adhesive industries for 10 years now. In more recent
years, in pursuit of such goal, the organizer Agnelo Editora has also been holding regional events in all parts of Brazil, brin-
ging along information and accomplishing its mission as an industry publication. Read our full coverage of the conference,
which includes numerous photos.
Our 170th issue also brings you information on the 6th Paint & Pintura Coatings Technology and Management Forum,
which will take place on September 13 at Hotel Golden Tulip, in Vitória, Espírito Santo, an area where major Brazilian paint
manufacturers are based. As a matter of fact, one of the highlights of the event is the high-end lectures that will be delive-
red by key suppliers of raw materials to the paint industry.
Be sure to check out our articles on acrylic resins and monomers, as well as our preview of Feitintas, including exhibitors of
great prominence in the industry announcing what they will be launching at the trade show.
Despite focusing on raw materials, the Paint & Pintura magazine is always engaged in updating the market on the latest
innovations in the paint and coatings industry. Accordingly, this issue brings you, readers, “cases” involving subjects that are
up on the agenda, such as maritime coatings and low-VOC systems.

Interview – In Search of Innovations
Each year Suvinil celebrates positive results and best practi-
ces. A market leader, the brand was acquired in 1969 by BASF,
which was breaking into the paint industry worldwide and
need to gain strength in different markets.
According to Eugênio Luporini Neto, Vice President of Decora-
tive Paints and Automotive Refinish Coatings at Suvinil South
America, it’s been years of hard work ever since, and today,
to sustain its leading position, with a 60-percent share in the
premium paint segment, Suvinil has a consistent business
strategy underpinned by customer relationships, innovation
and massive investments in the brand. “Our plants are loca-
ted in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo and Jaboatão dos
Guararapes, Pernambuco, and they produce a comprehensive
range of PVA latex and acrylic paints, enamels, varnishes,
epoxy products and application complements. Not only do
we serve customers in the domestic market, we also export
our products to countries like Paraguay, Venezuela, Cuba and
Bolivia, as well as some African nations,” points out the exe-
cutive, who has been vice president since January 2011.
Luporini Neto has a bachelor’s degree in Business Adminis-
tration from Fundação Getulio Vargas and an MBA degree
from Ibmec. With extensive business experience in retail,
he previously worked for companies like Pfizer, Inc. and
Procter&Gamble. He joined the company in 2006 as marke-
ting manager for decorative paints, responsible for bolstering
the Suvinil brand’s media and marketing strategy for the Bra-
zilian market. In 2007 Luporini became marketing director, in
which position he carried on with the strategic planning for
the brand.
