Packaging – Bulk Canisters,
Drums and Containers
Safety in All Processes
When it comes to industrial packa-
ging materials —bulk canisters,
drums and containers—, sturdy con-
tainers that ensure total safety in all
processes where they are used soon
pop in our minds. For this reason,
manufacturers invest in innovative
technologies and product certifica-
tions.
The key requirements for bulk ca-
nisters, drums and containers are
quality, safety and assurance of
product integrity. In addition, the
market calls for packaging materials
certified by the Brazilian regulatory
agency INMETRO for the transporta-
tion of chemicals that, as such, are mostly flammable.
In the paint industry, industrial packaging materials re-
present a very competitive market due to the complexity
of their life-cycle management, as companies seek optimi-
zation, logistic benefits, product safety and environment
safety.
In addition to quality certifications and assurances, certain
products are subject to specific requirements, especially
when it comes to solvents. For these, the use of plastic pa-
ckaging materials is relatively incipient and has been made
possible by technological advances that allow low flash
point-products to be packed under safe handling, transpor-
tation and storage conditions.
Currently, the technology used in packaging materials needs
to be practical, excellent quality and leakage-free or, in
other words, to ensure total safety across the paint value
chain. The paint industry imposes all such requirements
combined. Accordingly, agility (high speed in logistics, de-
velopment and innovation), quality (packaging materials
suitable to the product), flexibility, low cost, safety, part-
nership, creativity (innovation and research) and social and
environmental care are indispensable.
Defoamers - Performance Additives
Defoamers are much more than just additives that eliminate
foam formation. Innovative technologies make them real
highly efficient performance additives that meet the health
and environment protection requirements of the Brazilian
market.
Defoamers are key components in paint production and
application processes, as they prevent foam formation and
bubbling for a smoother, flawless surface with a higher-
quality, more durable finish. They can also enhance the
performance of end products, contribute to a better finish,
increase paint yield, reduce gloss losses and optimize pig-
ment dispersion by releasing air.
The latest developments in defoamers are products that act
on the elimination of micro- and macro-bubbles, preventing
foam formation both during and after the paint production
process, and remaining active during application, whether
by standard paint-rollers or paint recirculation systems
(pumping). In addition, customers are in search of products
which high performance with VOC-free, low-odor proper-
ties.
