Industry in the Spotlight - Irajá
Celebrates Anniversary and Introduces
New Company Identity
Established on May 24, 1952, Indústria
Química Irajá was originally engaged in
the business of producing soap bars, soap
pastes and synthetic enamels, as well as
packing kerosene, turpentine and other
chemicals for resale. A few years after its
foundation, in mid 1958, the company ad-
ded linseed oil, thinners and other products
to its resale range.
Carlos Paulo Kroschinsky and Oswaldo Luiz
Kroschinsky bought into the company in
1967 and 1968, respectively.
In the year 1994, the company started to
implement its expansion plan, ceasing its
reseller activities and starting to produce
decorative paints. In September 2000, Irajá
moved to São Paulo’s São Mateus industrial
complex, more precisely at Rua Forte de Rio
no. 619, where its current production facili-
ties take up a built-up area of 6,500 square
meters, with fully computerized processes
and capacity of 3 million liters per month.
In 2009 Irajá received its NBR ISO 9001
certification, demonstrating its compliance
with the requirements of the Paint Quality
Management standard, which was further
confirmed in November 2010 by the Quality
Certificate granted by the Brazilian Asso-
ciation of Paint Manufacturers (known for
short as Abrafati) in accordance with the
industry-specific quality program known by
the initials PBQP-H.
According to its owner and president Carlos Paulo Kros-
chinsky, since the beginning, Irajá has been doing bu-
siness by the key principle of adhering to the strictest,
most advanced quality and safety controls, while respec-
ting the environment.
Today, with 60 years of existence, Irajá is run by Carlos
Paulo Kroschinsky and his sons Carlos Paulo Kroschinsky
Jr., Executive Director, and Rafael Kroschinsky, Sales Di-
rector. In 2010, the company’s management team decided
to take new paths. Irajá kicked off a process of profes-
sionalizing its management and redesigning its business
model with a view to increasing its share in the decora-
tive paint market. That process includes innovation and
investments in infrastructure and all other aspects of
the company’s industrial operation, such as equipment,
processes and human resources.
According to President Carlos, Irajá’s 60 years of history
and tradition are no accident. “We credit much of our
success to our employees’ dedication to delivering qual-
ity products and results. It is our confidence in them that
