PAINT & PINTURA
Paint & Pintura Magazine:
What about the Poster
Session?
Dilson Ferreira:
Altogether,
we are having 72 lectures for the
congress, 13 lectures for the RadTech
conference, four podium discussions,
and more than 50 presentations
in the Poster Session area, which
has also grown with each edition,
as has the number of papers we
received for it. Papers must address
innovation and sustainability
concerns in order to qualify for
the congress, but other papers
which still either hold great
interest or suggest significant
improvements are asked to be
presented at Poster Session.
Our audiences really like this
space, which it is very busy, too,
as the papers remain available
for the duration of the show, and
visitors can access more than 50
presentations in one place, making
it an excellent complement to the
congress.
Paint & Pintura Magazine:
Are any additional activities
taking place at the same
time as the exhibition and
congress other than these
complementary events?
Dilson Ferreira:
The exhibition
also includes a product
demonstration and launch area,
located in the middle of the
exhibit space, where exhibitors are
performing sales demonstrations of
their products outside their booths,
all as previously scheduled in an
informal yet organized manner, so
that their target audiences can be
invited to watch.
Paint & Pintura Magazine:
What is the biggest expectation
from Abrafati 2013?
Dilson Ferreira:
The result of
Abrafati 2013 is the summation
of all technical information being
shared, especially on sustainability
in a broader sense, to enable the
industry to expand its knowledge
and grow in a sustainable way, with
significant improvement, thereby
helping Abrafati achieve the goal
it has set itself as an industry
association, which is to work with
representatives of all steps in the
supply chain in order to enable the
industry to continuously improve
both quantitatively and qualitatively.
Our congress is such a valuable tool
for the entire supply chain that the
paint and coatings industry will be
better after it.
This event is a personal and technical
development opportunity for the paint
industry, and we expect people to have
a great, transforming experience, and
all professionals who are here to take
full advantage of their contact with
innovations and representatives of
domestic and international busines-
ses. We’re welcoming everybody in the
industry. It’s only three days, and it’s
a unique opportunity to keep up with
the technologies and innovations of
the paint industry.
Paint & Pintura Magazine:
How would evaluate the
results for the first half of
2013? What are the prospects
for growth this year?
Dilson Ferreira:
We are watching
the economy settle down now.
The mass demonstrations that
have recently erupted are leading
politicians to review some of
their positions and their attitude
towards the future, and that
is bound to impact business,
bringing the economy to the
standstill we’re all looking at.
And the prospects for an upswing
will depend on where our leaders
will stand and how they will
conduct themselves politically
from now on. We are experiencing
a moment of serious reflection,
and there’s no doubt that it will
bring positive results. Right now,
however, we are grinding to a halt
out of a necessity to take things in,
think them through and adapt.
Our statistics for the first half have
not lived up to our expectations, with
virtually zero growth in the paint in-
dustry as a whole. There are prospects
for an upturn in the second half, but
the year-end results will not be as
positive as we expected.
Abrafati’s official growth forecast
for this year was around 3 percent,
but that rate will not be achieved
anymore, and we are now redoing
our estimates and will announce them
shortly.
