conductive properties and make it
easy to disperse onto the product. In
high-performance coatings, oxidized
fine particle carbon black is the key
to deep jet black paints. Mid-to-large
particle size carbon blacks are used
for tinting and indispensable for ob-
taining a desired gray shade or color
hue. In printing inks, not only are
carbon blacks only used as pigments,
they also help achieve the required
viscosity for optimum print quality.
Post-treating carbon blacks allow
an effective use of binding agents in
ink for optimum system properties,”

Agro Química Maringá supplies cus-

coalescing agents, resins, etc. Because
our sales team is constantly in touch
with our customers, they establish
very close relationships that allow
them to spot any business opportuni-
ties. The technical team supports our
customers in developing their prod-
ucts. Being at Abrafati 2013 gives us
an opportunity to be around a large
number of customers and suppliers in
a short period of time,” says market-
ing manager José Antonio da Costa.
Águia Química
Established in 1989, coating resins
manufacturer Águia Química provides
a comprehensive range of products to
customers across South America. In
addition to its off-the-shelf offerings,
Águia’s research and applications
laboratory and highly flexible indus-
trial facilities allow the company to
tailor resins to customer-specific uses
and requirements.
Águia Química is investing in the
development of resins that contain
more materials from renewable
sources in the i r formulat ions
and generate very low emissions
of organic compounds. “As part
of this strategy, the company is
introducing at Abrafati five different
families that not only deliver great
performance properties, such as
gloss, processability and adhesion to
a wide variety of substrates, including
metal, masonry, wood and paper, but
also reduce packaging and freight
costs, as well as emissions of organic
compounds. They are high-solids
resins soluble in oxygenated solvents,
emulsifiable alkyd resins that al-
lows water to be used as part of the
solvent system with no emulsifying
additives needed, one-component
aqueous polyurethane dispersions,
and water-based alkyd resins, with
the main feature of using only water
as solvent,” sales manager Ismael
Corazza remarks.
Air Products
Air Products is exhibiting its com-
prehensive range of water-based spe-
cialty additives, including surfactants,
defoamers and pigment dispersing
agents for various markets, including
paints and coatings, printing inks,
adhesives, pigment dispersions, agro-
chemicals, metalworking and cons-
truction materials. “We are launching
the Airase line of structured siloxane
defoamers, comprising seven modified
siloxane-based defoamers specifically
designed to solve microfoaming and
other surface defect problems in
different applications. Air Products
also provides a comprehensive range
of epoxy curing agents, including re-
active diluents, accelerators, adhesion
promoters, rheology modifiers and
specialty resins, for various applica-
tions, such as paints and coatings,
civil engineering, adhesives and
composites, and the Anquamine line
of resins and curing agents for water-
-based paints and coatings,” says spe-
cialty additives sales and marketing
manager Luciana Vivo.
The company is also introducing
its full range of Ancamine amine
products. “The Ancamine line com-
prises five new competitively priced,
low-viscosity, solvent-free curing
agents designed to overcome low-
-temperature curing challenges like
imparting chemical strength and car-
bamation resistance. We’re launching
the new Amicure IC-221 and IC-321
curing agents, which are based on the
amine curing agent technology for
polyisocyanate resins and specifically
designed for trimer polyisocyanate
resins, such as Ancarez ISO HDiT, for
factory and office flooring systems.
These curing agents feature rapid
hardness development, low-tempera-
