One other featured piece of news brought to you readers
is theopeningof theProlataRecyclingCenter inSãoPaulo,
which takes up an area of 500 square meters and is the
result of R$ 1 million in investments made by 15 Abeaço
(short in Portuguese for Brazilian Steel PackagingAssocia-
tion) member companies. An excellent initiative that will
certainly benefit the entire supply chain, it has capacity to
recycle as much as 2,000 tons of packaging materials per
month, so that they can be turned into new sheet metal.
In order for that to happen, however, Prolata Recycling
relies on the cooperation of all parties concerned, as the
main idea behind the project is to raise people’s aware-
ness of the importance of recycling packaging materials
upon consumption, while encouraging curbside recycling
as well, which will result in reduced consumption of fresh raw
material and savings in energy andother process costs, thereby
contributing to sustainability and the environment. Congratula-
tions to all of those involved in this project!
The three special reports for this issue - Special and Effect Pig-
ments, Biocides, and Steel Containers and IBCs - also feature
the most innovative and, of course, the most sustainable and
environmentally compliant products available to the industry.
In addition, they showhowmanufacturers of rawmaterials are
committed toenhancing theperformanceof their products and
ensuring better value for money. Check out their newdevelop-
ments on the following pages.

sary celebrations of the following companies: Solvay, with 150
years; Oxiteno, with 40 years; and CPS Color, for its 20 years in
Brazil; as well as the expansion of Alcolina and Iquine.
