Events - Sherwin-Williams Presents Awards to
Best Suppliers of 2013
November 22 saw Sherwin-Williams hold the 17th edition
of its Supplier Performance Assessment System Awards. In
attendance at the event held at Terraço Itália, in São Paulo,
were Sherwin-Williams’ president Mark Pitt, director of
operations Hermes Campos, supplies manager Patrícia de
Lucca, and marketing director David Ivy, Jr. Other important
attendants included leaders of industry associations, such
as Dilson Ferreira, chief executive officer at the Brazilian
Association of Paint Manufacturers (known for short as
Abrafati), Claudio Conz, president of the National Asso-
ciation of Dealers in Construction Materials (Anamaco for
short), Narciso Moreira Preto, president of the Union of
São Paulo State Paint and Coating Manufacturers (for short,
Sitivesp), Paulo César Abrantes Aguiar, executive director
Sitivesp, and last, but not least, Agnelo de Barros Neto,
chief executive officer at Agnelo Editora, all of whom took
the opportunity to deliver speeches about the importance
of the awards.
The purpose of the awards is to encourage Sherwin-Williams
suppliers to pursue excellence across the supply cycle, from
the quality of their materials to their delivery at the factory,
living up to the quality standards of the company’s owns
products. All of its suppliers compete for the awards and
are assessed in the course of the year against five criteria:
process quality, product quality, lead times, billing,
and customer service. From quarterly reports, both
Sherwin-Williams and its suppliers get information on
performance and any such action as may be required.
The awards are a way of inducing all suppliers to use
the same strict degree of care in ensuring the quality of
their services. Sherwin-Williams’ marketing director Da-
vid Ivy, Jr. stresses the importance of the recognition,
which assures customers are provided with quality
products: “Sherwin-Williams is recognized worldwide
for the superior quality of our products. Paints and
coatings are our world, so we make a point of always
seeking to be the best paint company. We are strict
about all processes involved, starting with the quality
of the products we buy from our suppliers.”
