These two regions have been developing each year and experiencing significant growth across the board in the manufacturing sector, espe- cially in the paint and coatings industry. This issue brings you the winners of the 2nd Paint & Pintura Regional Awards, North & Northeast. TITANIUM DIOXIDE - UNMATCHED HIDING POWER Titanium dioxide continues to stand out by a long stretch in the paint and coatings industry thanks to their key properties. Regarded as one of the most important pigments in the paint industry, titanium dioxide is a unique product whose key pro- perties make for exceptional quality paints and coatings, chief among which is their great hiding power. The Brazilianmarket in titaniumdioxide is driven by the techni- cal requirements for the paints that are locally produced. There still is plenty of room for the technological development of paints and coatings in Brazil, as there are new product classes and existing products featuring enhanced performance that have yet to be introduced. For more than 80 years, Chemours has been producing superior titanium dioxide pigments that enable quality paints to meet the needs and requirements of professional painters as well as the market itself around the globe, according to Claudia de Almeida Antunes, BusinessMa- nager, Titanium Technologies, at Chemours Brazil, who adds, “As part of this process, we are committed to collaborating with our customers in these developments.” The coatings industry does nowand has always demanded pig- ments featuring high hiding power, both dry and wet, as well as easy dispersion during the process, brightness, high tinting strength and durability. “These are properties that continue to be key in paint formulations, and our products based on the Ti-Pure technology undergo organic surface treatments that enable them to deliver greater ‘dispersion efficiency’ in the process, which makes for improved performance by enhancing the properties of the finished paint, among them hiding power, gloss, tinting strength, brightness and durabili- ty,” Claudia concludes. PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT - MILLS, DISPENSERS & MIXERS - TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT Technology, automation and durable production equipment for paints and coatings are what manufacturers have been in themarket for. The next few years are expected to see awave facility renewals and capacity expansions. “Manufacturers are looking to buy new equipment that improves productivity through automation and durability, but they want to do it at a low cost, too. There is an ongoing search for equipment that delivers high performance at affordable costs, and that’s no easy equation. But when we roll all of our process technology into one piece of equipment, we can ensure productivity with the help of milling process tools, so they’re searching for us. As the name itself suggests - Custom Milling and Consulting- CMC Brazil specializes in the milling process. We’re not only manufacturers, but also process experts,” says chief executive José Ricardo Giacobelli. ETL Engenharia’s chief executive Edson Barbosa says that the major challenges in this market are to implement highly automated processes, integrate process segments and adjust investment amounts to the business of customers. “As we design production plants, we select the equipment according to sales and production line implementation plans, keeping pace with the marketplace and how it evolves.
