Revista Paint & Pintura - Edição 247

CLIPPING 8 | PAINT&PINTURA | Setembro 2019 The Brazilian market is constantly demanding innovations to launch new paints and coatings, and effect pigments are underscored by designers seeking to emphasize the new colors and trends, according to Ubirajara Kormanski, Sales Manager at Silberline. “Our company, as a traditional produ- cer of aluminum pigments, focuses its innovations mainly on intensifying themetallic effect of its products andmaking them increasingly bright and beautiful. In addition, we focus our in- novations on technical product properties, such asmechanical and chemical strength, compatibility with different systems, reduction/increase in electrical conductivity, improvement of electrostatic spray performance, improved dispersibility and adherence, etc.” The demand for effect pigments has been growing in Brazil because, besides to adding value to products, their use is more diversified, as they are currently present in all types of inks, paints and coatings and compatible with the most varied of applications, such as packaging inks, glass, decorative paints, automotive coatings, plastic coatings, powder coatings, printing inks, textile and other products, according to Cristine Lopes Camargo, regional sales manager for South America at Eckart. COLORANTS FOR TINTING SYSTEMS - GREAT POTENTIAL FOR GROWTH Many color options with quality, reproducibility and vibrant, high-color-strength and cost-effective shades are some of the advantages that colorants for tinting systems provide to the market. Colors are today a choice that changes people’s lives, which makes themthe target of growing investment in Brazil. For this reason, the colorant segment shows great growth potential, and suppliers are preparedwithmany newdevelopments and innovations in this field. “Brazilians are already using more and more new colors to modernize indoor and outdoor envi- ronments and areas. This market is growing with many new color developments. For retailers, there has been a reduction in inventories. It is a market with great potential for growth andwe are ready for it,” says Gilberto Amarante, of Transcor’s technical support. With a significant growth in sales of colorants for tinting sys- tems, companies that recently only produced colors in the ready-mix system already understand that the tinting system is one of themain tools for improving productivity, brand pro- motion and, as a result, increasing sales, according to Gisele Ferreira, national sales manager at Chromaflo. “Increasingly, performance, sustainability and environmentally compliant raw materials will be required and make the difference in the market and in the production of a wide variety of products. Developingproducts that offermore quality, yield, productivity and that are compatible with environmental issues is a reality that tends to be established in the coming years.” EVENTS - TRENDS IN VARIOUS SEGMENTS DISCUSSED AT PAINT & PINTURA FORUM CAXIAS DO SUL The 43 Rd Paint & Paint Coatings Technology and Management Forum, which took place on August 8 at Hotel Intercity Caxias do Sul, in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, was kicked off by the lecture titled “Coatings industry Towards Real Value Cre- ation,” with Francisco Rácz, from Rácz, Yamaga & Associates (RY), who opened the event addressing the trends of the paint and coatings industry’s various segments. Next, BASF’s new technologies were introduced for one- -component systems based on state-of-the-art acrylic emul- sions. The second part of the lecture introduced additives from BASF’s portfolio that contribute to adding value to customer formulations. The presentation was conducted by Luiza Goulart, a chemist specializing in coating resins at BASF for South America, and Marlon Braidott, technical consultant on additives at BASF for South It’s America. Attentive to market needs and always seeking innovation, Brenntag introduced new technologies to enable the formu- lation of differentiated products and add value in the lecture titled “Technological Innovations for the Coatings Industry: FromResins to Special Additives,” delivered by Sérgio Santos, ACES technical coordinator for Brazil. In a virtually all digital world, consumers seek out various pro- duct features in a short span of time to actually attain the best cost-benefit ratios. Accordingly, in his lecture “Point-of-Sale Intelligence,” Aguinaldo Nabarro, Sales Manager at theMAST Group, showed that, in this business scenario, it has become essential touse themost advanced technologies todemonstra- te and ensure a continuous commitment to quality assurance and customer service in order to adjust to this behavior and to stand out from the pack in a highly competitive market. Wrapping up the morning’s proceedings, Eastman presen- ted the lecture “Solving the Puzzle in Low-Odor, VOC-Free Additives for Decorative Coatings,” with Marcos Basso, ma- rket development manager, who showed, in addition to the company’s high-performance coalescing agents, its newest line of low-odor, pH-neutralizing, zero-VOC product, expanding its portfolio for the printing ink segment. Plastic packagingmaterials were part of the afternoon discus- sions. Bomix led with Luiz Henrique Pires, Sales Coordinator, to deliver the lecture titled “Reverse Logistics and Paint plastic Pail Recycling – Wecycle,” stressing the advantages of plastic packaging (ACV) and a plastic disposal program for paint packaging materials. Up next came the lecture “Stahl Polymers: Sustainable Performance-Enhancing Polymers,” presented by Fernando Parra, SouthAmerica businessmanager, who addressed acrylic polymers, matte VOC-free resins, and innovations in polyure- thane dispersions for special flooring systems and coatings from Stahl Polymers.
