CLIPPING in the country and broke into the automotive and industrial coatings segment. PPG has followed all the evolution of the automotive industry in Brazil. In particular, the arrival the large automakers in the 1990’s made their business much stronger. This movement led to the construction of the company’s industrial complex in Sumaré, São Paulo, where it started to manufacture paints and coatings for various segments and introduce pioneering technologies in Brazil, such as high-techwater-based coatings, making a significant contribution to sustainability. Another important milestone in the company’s trajectory in Brazil was when it broke into the decorative paint seg- ment through the purchase of a license in 2007 from Tintas Renner, a renowned Southern brand with manufacturing operations in Gravataí, Rio Grande do Sul. In general, many things have changed during the 45 years of PPG’s operations in Brazil. MORE THAN FIVE DECADES DISTRIBUTING SPECIALTY CHEMICALS A specialty chemical company was born 55 years ago: Adexim- -Comexim, which has always worked to supply customers in the Brazilian market with raw materials with the best quality products fromaround theworld, according to officer Carlos S. Russo. “That way, wewere the ‘cradle’ of several multinational companies that today operate in Brazil through their own or- ganizations. We can even say that we have developed a dozen foreign companies with their innovative rawmaterials, which today are part of the Brazilian industrial market. In addition, the development of laboratory equipment was also an important step toward serving our market. Nowadays, you are unlikely to enter chemical company’s laboratory without finding a color control camera (Colorcheck) and/or accelerated weathering equipment (C-UV) with our brand on it.” The company also created its own printing ink manufactu- rers, which later grew and merged into major multinationals, according to Russo. “As a specialty chemical company, our products are not fabulous, but rather valuable. For 25 years we have been established in a building in the neighborhood of Casa Verde in São Paulo, where we ship out rawmaterials and equipment to customers all over Brazil and some countries in SouthAmerica. We have been certified under ISO9001:2015 for more than 15 years, adapting and improving our procedures year after year.” EPOXY RESINS - OLIN EPOXY PLANT CELEBRATES 40- YEAR ANNIVERSARY Olin’s epoxy plant, located in Guarujá, São Paulo, is celebra- ting 40 years of existence.
