PAINT & PINTURA
A toast to the winners!
Clipping
I
n this issue, the paint market is treated with a piece on the big winners of the paint industry’s
“Academy Awards”, the 14th Paint & Pintura Awards. Every year, the best are chosen in 53 categories,
including suppliers to the paint industry, paint companies, personalities, ad of the year and master
company.
Audited by Premium Auditores, the Paint & Pintura Survey shows for the 14th time the results of a
work taken seriously and done with total transparency. Over all these years of survey, we at Agnelo
Editora have worked to ensure that it accurately reflects the reality in the Brazilian paint market.
However, not only those who came in first are winners. For Agnelo Editora, the publishing house which has
been putting the event together since 1997, all companies who got to be finalists or were even nominated in
the Paint & Pintura Survey of Suppliers to the Paint Industry win, as they are in a distinguished business with
high-end companies and high-end professionals who without a doubt deserve full recognition in the indus-
try. This magazine is stuffed with all of the information on the survey and award winners, just so all of you
readers can examine and enjoy it.
In addition to the 14th Paint & Pintura Awards, other highlights of this issue include the interview granted
to Paint & Pintura Magazine by the new president of Sitivesp (short for São Paulo State Union of Paint and
Varnish Manufacturers) Ricardo Stiepcich, who will carry on with the good work of Roberto Ferraiuolo and
Paulo Cesar Aguiar, particularly as regards ethics, who have contributed so much to the growth of the entire
value chain.
The main reports for this issue are on adhesion promoters, carbon blacks and colorimetry, which show how
these industry segments are bouncing back after the 2009 crisis and getting back on the growth track to stay
for years to come.
Congratulations to all winners of the 14th Paint & Pintura Awards!
Enjoy reading!

Interview - Sitivesp elects new president
Elected on March 17 for the three-year period ending
on 2013, the new president of Sitivesp (Short for São
Paulo State Union of Paint and Varnish Manufactu-
rers) Ricardo Stiepcich has been on the entity’s board
for 21 years.
A graduate from the Lauro Gomes state trade school
of São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Stiepcich has
been working in the paint market since 1984, when
he joined Córtex, currently Futura Tintas, where he
is now in command. The new president succeeds
Roberto Ferraiuolo, who presided over the Sitivesp
since 1971, and was elected president emeritus of the
entity last December.
The new president will focus on the demands and
requirements of the Sitivesp member companies and
the development of the industry as a whole, particu-
larly as regards business training. One of the guide-
lines is to carry on with the actions started and con-
ducted by the previous leader. “One of my concerns in
the position is to carry on with the good work done
by Roberto Ferraiuolo, particularly concerning ethics,
who has contributed to much to growth in the entire
value chain,” says Stiepcich.
A key initiative of the new president is to foster
change in aspects that are natural to every line of
business, such as competition between companies in
the same industry. The idea is to create joint efforts
to encourage cooperation among member companies
towards developing and implementing measures that
will expand the markets served.
Stiepcich also stresses the importance of streng-
