PAINT & PINTURA
Novembro 2011
165
reveals growing international interest
in our country.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: Has the-
re been even greater interest in the
exhibition among foreign companies
due to Brazil’s growth potential?
Dilson Ferreira:
Brazil’s growth
potential and its position as a leader
and business epicenter for Latin
America certainly lead more and
more international suppliers to follow
the country with great interest. This
movement has been taking place for a
while now in the paint industry, and
it only tends to expand, as there are
lots of opportunities for those willing
to invest and do business in Brazil.
Since Abrafati 2011 is the most im-
portant business and scientific event
in Latin America and one of the most
important of its kind in the world as
well, it is an excellent opportunity for
networking with such a promising
market.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: What
countries will be represented?
Dilson Ferreira:
It’s hard to provide
an exact number of countries becau-
se a large number of global com-
panies will be here, most of which
do business in Brazil either directly
or through agents. We are having
exhibitors from the Americas, Europe
and Asia. Countries that have gained
strength in the world economic sce-
nario over the past few years, such as
China, India and South Korea, have
been expanding their presence at
the exhibit, but there’s also growing
interest among companies based in
North America and Europe, whose
markets are being more severely
affected by the previous crisis and
current uncertainties.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: Has
the exhibit space increased com-
pared to the previous edition?
What’s the total exhibition area?
Dilson Ferreira:
For this year, the
total exhibit space will cover an
area of 24,500 square feet, just a
little larger than in 2009.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: What
is the estimated number of trade
show visitors and participants for
this year?
Dilson Ferreira:
We expect to recei-
ve 20,000 visitors, at least 2,000 of
whom coming from abroad. Even
more important than the number,
however, is the quality of these
visitors: they are the most represen-
tative professionals of the paint in-
dustry in Brazil and South America.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: What
are some of the main innovations
to be featured at Abrafati 2011?
Dilson Ferreira:
Based on sug-
gestions from exhibitors and the
surveys that we’ve conducted, we’ve
introduced a variety of improve-
ments and innovative features for
this edition of the International
Paint Industry Suppliers Exhibition.
The 2009 edition has very positive
reviews, but we always want to pro-
vide additional benefits and even
better conditions for participants.
The easy online registration tool
for visitors is an example of im-
provement. All visitors have to do
to ensure their admission is log on
to www.abrafati2011.com.br and
enter the information.
For these reasons, the entire exhibit
space is designed to favor mobili-
ty and make room for exhibitors
to exercise their creativity at their
booths. The selected architectural
design has allowed a more efficient
use of the pavilion, as well as im-
provements in the area set aside for
the Poster Session.
Another important new feature is
the creation of an area within the
exhibit space for business lectures
and product and service demonstra-
tions, each lasting up to 20 minutes.
Freely accessible to all visitors, this
form of presentation enables sup-
pliers to interact with both existing
and potential customers, thereby
creating joint development and
business opportunities.
Paint & Pintura Magazine: What
are some of Abrafati’s expecta-
tions about this year’s edition of
the trade show?
Dilson Ferreira:
The prominent
position that Brazil currently holds
in the world, combined with its
prospects for the future, has set the
expectations high for Abrafati and
all participants concerning this
year’s trade show. In such a favo-
rable environment, we’re going to
have the best exhibition ever, pro-
viding lots of benefits to the paint
value chain.
The exhibition both complements
and enriches the congress, provi-
ding a venue of exhibitors to de-
monstrate practical applications of
the contents shown by their lectures
and technical papers. It’s a couple
of hundred companies introducing
significant innovations, providing a
real-time view of how the future of
the paint value chain is being built.
The fact that the two functions are
being held at the same time will
create the ideal conditions for those
involved with the industry to inte-
ract, discuss new possibilities, find
solutions and do business. Abrafati
2011 is going to use advances in
science and technology to bring
about development, growth and
new deals, which are key conditions
for Brazil’s paint industry to stay
dynamic, strong and fresh.
