coordinatorof theStudyCommission (CE-10:101.05)of the
BrazilianChemistryCommittee (CB-10/ABNT), coordinator
oftheToxicologicalSciencesgraduatecourse,andprofessor
ofToxicologyatFaculdadesOswaldoCruz,SãoPaulo.“The
lecturewill explain theGHS (GloballyHarmonizedSystem
ofClassificationandLabelingofChemicals),whichhasbeen
establishedandpublishedbytheUnitedNations(UN). InBrazil,
theGHShasbeen incorporated intoRegulatoryStandard26(NR
26),oftheMinistryofLaborandEmployment,andNBR14725,of
theBrazilianAssociation forTechnicalStandards (ABNT).Based
on legal requirementsandconsidering theeffectivenessof the
GHS inBrazil, the lecturewilldiscuss the impactsandnecessary
adjustments that the system isgoing tobring into theBrazilian
industry,”Pinheiroanticipates.

theexportsegment,weworkprimarilywithfurniture,sawnwood

Established in1995 inthetownofSãoBentodoSul,SantaCatari-
na,thecompanywas initiallyengagedonly inthebusinessofex-
portingwoodfurniture,componentsandderivatives.“Thetown
whereourcompany islocatedhasastrongfurniture industryand,
asaresult,manyfurniturecoatingmanufacturers.Forthisreason,
our founderssawanopportunity toextendourbusiness to the
chemical industry. The first sixmonths in thismarket involved
planning, prospecting for suppliers, visitingplants of potential
partners, testing rawmaterialsandnegotiating.By theseventh
month,thefirst importedchemicalshadbeguntoarrive, leading
toourfirstsalestocustomers intheregion.Thethingthatreally
acceleratedthecompany’sgrowthwasthe internationalexpor-
tingstructure italreadyhad,whichhasbeenexpanded tomeet
thedemand fromthe importsmarketaswell,”saysAndrukiu.
AsInterbrasilgrew, in2013 itsdirectorsdecidedtoprofessionalize
itsmanagementbybringing inprofessionalswithextensiveex-
perience inthemarketplacetomanagethecompany’ssalesand
marketingdepartments.“From2013tothepresentday,oursales
team increased from three to 15 individuals,whileour turnover
boomed277percent inthisperiod,”Andrukiuconcludes.
