In addition to innovations in the grinding process, the new
Alpha is clearly designed for a simpler operation requiring
much less clean-up, according to Ferreira. “Additionally, all
of theutilities needed in theprocess, such as coolingwater,
compressed air and sealingfluid, havebeen separated from
thegrindingareas,which cannowbe safelyaccessedduring
theoperation.Finally,withtheflexible,multifunctionalAlpha
Cart, maintenance and service tasks involving the collection
and removal of grindingbeads, canbe greatly simplified for
all of thedifferentgrinding systems.
OMYA
Omya is introducing several products at Abrafati 2015.
“Calcigloss-GU is anatural, high-purity, ultrafine calcium car-
bonateofhighpurityandwhitemarblepowderwithexcellent
pigment qualities. It has excellent dispersion properties in
solvent-based paints and other coating systems, resulting
inoutstanding gloss retention, and can replace precipitated
bariumsulfate.Omyacoat420-G isatitaniumdioxideextender
well-suited for matt, high-PVC coatings that can be used as
a substitute for precipitated calcium carbonate,” says sales
manager FabioStrano.
Two other products will be in the spotlight at the tra-
de show. “The Omyacarb Extra-KA titanium dioxide
extender is designed for semi-gloss-to-gloss, mid- to
low-PVC coatings and canbe used inboth solvent- and
water-based systems. Finally, Omyamatt OM-100 is a
modified calcium carbonate that works as a matting
agent designedwith a particlemorphology that allows
for efficiency and highperformance inmatt decorative
paints,”Stranoadds.
ORION
Orion Engineered Carbons will highlight its new gene-
ration of treated specialty carbon black pigments at
Abrafati 2015. “The Colour Black FW 255 pigment sets
a newbar for high jetness, coloristic performance, and
compatibilitywith bothwaterborne and solvent-borne
systems. Itenablesformulatorstomaintainperformance
andcoloristicpropertieswhilemigrating towaterborne
formulations,”saysmarketingmanagerThomasPapasso.
Anotherproducttobeondisplay isSpecialBlack40.“It’s
aspecialtycarbonblackformedium- tohigh-jetcoatings
that provides exceptional dispersibility and stability in
industrialapplications. Itworks inallcoatingformulations
—solvent-based, water-based, high solids and powder
coatings -providing formulatorswithenormousflexibili-
ty,”warrantstechnicalmarketmanagerMarkDingeldein.
OSWALDOCRUZQUÍMICA
OswaldoCruzQuímica is launchingaseriesofproductsat
Abrafati 2015.“These includeournewacrylicbinders for
decorativepaints:Fortcryl6045andFortcryl6110,which
raisethebaronperformance inthemarketplace.Weare
also introducingFortcryl7100,anewacrylicemulsionfor
road-markingpaintsthatexceedstherequirementsofthe
moststringentofdomesticand international regulations.
