According to a survey conducted with conference attendees, the
waterborne technology is viewedas themost important technology
of the future in the paint and coatings industry. Around 44 percent
of all respondents to the survey voted for this technology, while
approximately 30percent considered functional and smart coatings
themost important technology. Concerningsustainability, 63percent
of the survey sample rated sustainability as important, andnearly 15
percent as indispensable.Whenaskedwhether theywere in favorof
thedevelopmentof amethodology tobeagreedupon industry-wide
formeasuring sustainability, 70 percent said “yes”.
Still on the survey, 60 percent said that the technologies that will
stand out for innovation over the next three years will be those
related to binders and resins, while 25 percent expect the most
innovation to come from additives. To the question, “what boosts
R&D activities?,” almost 83 percent answered “the demand in the
marketplace,”while9percent said“careand responsibility towards
society.”
