their performance. “Our alkyd emulsions are based
onnatural oils and contain a highpercentageof raw
materials from renewable sources in their formula-
tion. These resins can be used in the same way as
alkyd resins diluted in organic solvents, including as
grindingmedia,” saysAntonioCarrascosaFilho, sales
managerandapplicationengineer forSouthAmerica.
The products from Necowel are free of VOCs and
organic solvents, meeting all environmental and oc-
cupational health requirements.

Lubrizol helda ceremonyonMarch 12 tomark the
opening of its new Brazilian headquarters in the
Jardim Paulista district of São Paulo, which was
attended by the company’s entire team and its
global business director Peter Bloyce.
The functiondemonstratedLubrizol’scommitment
toBrazil,which includes thevery investmentmade
in thenewheadquarters, aspartof itsengagement
in thecountry’seconomicgrowth. “This is just the
beginning of a series of investments we plan on
making in the country,which contemplate application
laboratories and capacity expansions. And evenmore
important than thebuilding itself is the investmentwe
make in our professionals. Previously, Lubrizol would
serve the Latin American markets from Europe and
the United States, but now we have sales, technical
and customer service capabilities near the consumer
market ineachcountry. The spaceavailableatournew
headquarters supports a significant expansion of our
salesand technical team.While this isoneof the largest
investments evermadeby Lubrizol in the region, even
larger investments are yet to come,” says Bloyce.
Thenew facilityhousesLubrizol’s fourbranchesof bu-
siness. “Wehave thePersonal andHomeCaredivision
supplying the consumer market with cosmetics and
home careproducts. Twoother areas arededicated to
engineeringpolymers, which are engineeringplastics,
and theLifeSciencePolymersbusiness,whichprovides
polymers for thepharmaceutical industry. Lastbutnot
least, there is theCoatingsbusiness. For the first three
business units, we have research and development
laboratories in this new building. For the Coatings
business, we have only an application laboratory, but
we are still making investments,” says Luis Carthery
