A SAD LOSS
This July issue brings you a piece of news that has left
us all grief-stricken at Agnelo Editora. We refer to the
passingofourfriendandcompanionSérgioÁvila,oneof
thecreatorsofPaint&PnturaMagazine,whohad joined
Agnelo de Barros Neto to start an industry magazine
publishing business that was then named Ávila-Agnelo
Editora. Even though he had no longer been part of
the publishing company since 2009, Sérgio has left a
recognized body of work behind him, especially in the
paint market, where he came upwith great ideas and
successful projects.
Withhisexperienceandwisdom,Sérgiodrew tohimself
a legionof admirers, includingall ofusat thepublishing
housewho have had the pleasure ofworkingwith him
andwho, likeme, have fondmemoriesof thenumerous
‘small notes’ he would leave on our desks with his re-
quests. His lessons are his great legacy to all of us.We
hereby thankSérgioÁvilagreatly for having startedAg-
neloEditoraandcontributedanawful lot tous formany
years, and also for having helped to buildwhat is now

INTERVIEW - VENCOREX ANNOUNCES GLOBAL
INVESTMENTS
Vencorex,amajormanufacturerofaromatic isocyanates
(TDI), hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI, IPDI) and its
derivatives for the polyurethane industrywith sales re-
presentationsspreadall over theworld, hasannounced
massive investments in theUSA, Europe, AsiaandLatin
America, with Brazil andMexico continuing to dictate
changes in the latter region.
Vencorex is expanding its aliphatic isocyanate capacity
topromote andbolster its positions around theworld.
“Our goal is to reinforce our global position with aliphatic
isocyanates, includingHDI, IPDI, Tolonate& Easaqua aswell
asnewproducts. Thefirst step involvesamonomer capacity
expansionatPontdeClaix,France,bymorethan70,000tons,
and a new derivatives plant in Rayong, Thailand, with initial
capacity inexcessof12,000tonsperyear.Thederivativesplant
in Thailand and themonomer capacity expansion should be
completed,upandrunningstill in2016.Wearehardatworkto
ensure that thosenewproductioncapacitieswillbeavailable
asearlyasthebeginningofthesecondhalf,”saysDaniloZanin,
marketingand salesdirector for LatinAmerica.
