Celebrating 20 years in the marketplace, Colornet,
createdbyMarcos and IaraRaicher, startedout doing
business from a small building in São Paulo, focusing
on pigments and colorants, and is now taking the
opportunity to usher in a restructuring process aimed
at improving its customer service quality. Today the
company has a skilled team of color experts boasting
extensiveexperiencewith industrial coatings, printing
inks, plastics and cosmetics, their primary markets
served. “Colornet’s history is a bit entangledwithmy
own personal history. I worked at multinationals for
many years and always wanted to one day start my
ownbusiness,which I did in 1996. Tous, thatwasquite
a radical change, but all of the effort and dedication
we’ve put into it have beenworth all thewhile,” says
directorMarcosRaicher.
Colornet offers customized color, metallic and pear-
lescent effect solutions, representing major global
pigmentandcolorantcompanies.“Overthese20years,
we’veclosed importantdeals,wonovercustomersand
represented companies, and also faced difficulties. As
for the latter, however, we’ve always thought ahead
and never let anything bring us down, and nowwe’re
herecelebrating thisanniversaryofacompany thathas
become recognizedby its quality, seriousness, service
and innovation. Colornet is the fruit of hard work,”
Raicher pointsout.
The director says that the company is currently in the
process of strengthening its business. “Lots of adjust-
ments have yet tobemade, just aswe still havemany
new developments to bring into the Brazilianmarket.
We’ll stop at nothing, and I’m looking forward to cele-

METAL PACKAGING - 40YEARSOF CERVIFLAN: THE
STORYOFANACCOMPLISHEDPIONEER
From a scrap yard to amodernmetal packagingplant.
That pretty much sums up the 40-year trajectory of
Cerviflan,acompanyfocusedon innovation, technology
andmany investments.
Cerviflan started out in 1976, led by Vicente Lozargo Filho
and Cesar Fiamenghi, initially dealing in tinplate and brass
scraps.Twoyears later, thecompanydiversified itsbusiness,
starting toproduce itsownmetal containers. “Thatwasour
first step towards solidifyingacompany thatwouldeventu-
allybecome a leadingproducer of steel cans for decorative
paints,chemicalsandaerosols inBrazil,”sayschiefexecutive
officer VicenteLozargoFilho.
Aseriesof small plantacquisitions followed, contributing to
expanding and improving the company’s business. In 1980
Cerviflan acquired the Guarulhos, São Paulo plant, where
it has been to this day. Its 15,000 squaremeters house the
officesandoneof themostmodernmetal packagingplants
inLatinAmerica,according toLozargoFilho.“Producing the
best cans in Brazil has always been our goal. To that end,
we’ve invested since our early days in cutting-edge equip-
ment and the development of innovative products. In 1982
we pioneered the use of electronic welding—which uses
no lead, tin or any other chemical element—, thusmaking
ourpackagingproductsboth saferand stronger. Today, our
planthasequipmentneverbeforeseen in theLatinAmerica
region, suchas aguillotine shears.”
LozargoFilho says thatquality texturedprinting, too, isone
of Cerviflan’s strong suits. “Our equipment imported from
Europe,ourundividedattentionthroughouttheprocess,and
the premiumquality inputs andmaterialswe usemake the
difference intheendproduct, somethingthatourcustomers
indeed recognize.”
Innovation is strategic to the company, and that reflects in
the fact that it was the first one in the business to launch
necked cans inBrazil, which ensure easier stacking at both
paint stores and consumer homes, according toLozargoFi-
lho.“Inaddition,we’verecentlystartedproducing improved
18-liter containers. Our innovations have, in fact, earned us
major awards, suchas ‘Cansof theYear’.”
LozargoFilho tell howhiscompanydiversifiedonceagain in
2005bybreaking into themarket forsteel aerosol cans.“We
began to invest massively, and the Cerviflan plant became
themost modern in the industry across Latin America. We
provide themost comprehensive rangeof steel aerosol can
diametersandheights inthedomesticmarket,withaPETfilm
applied to thebottomof thecan for thecosmetics industry.
With that protection, you can leave the can on a wet sink
without risking rust.”
