TROPHIES SYMBOLIZE THE INDUSTRY’S STRENGTH

Regarded as the industry’s largest networking event in

LatinAmerica, the21stPaint&PinturaAwardsceremony

washeldonMay 12atEspaçoVilados Ipês, inSãoPaulo,

wherethewinners in53categorieswerepresentedwith

their trophies.

Theeventbroughttogether612paintandcoatings indus-

try personalities andwas hosted by journalist, TV host

andactress JulianaFranceschi, currentlyacastmember

oftheSBTnetwork,whoservedasmasterofceremonies.

Inhis opening speech, AgneloEditora’s chief executive

officer Agnelo de Barros Neto thanked sponsors and

backers for their partnership, and for their belief in the

work we do at the publishing house that is turning 21

yearsold,aswellallof thoseattendingandparticipating

for their presence. Furthermore, he talked about the

challenges instore for thenext fewyears.“Mymessage

is alwaysoneof optimism, in spiteof all of themishaps

in thepredicamentwe’re living through, aswe’reon the

right track, themeasures thatwereneededarealready

being put in place, and now it’s just a matter of time

before thepieces start falling intoplace, bringingabout

progressandprosperitythewaywe’reusedtohaving it in

ourmarketplace.”Mr.BarrosNetoalsopointedoutthat

the Paint & Pintura Awards are the largest networking

event inLatinAmericaandcongratulatedallfinalistsand

entrepreneurswhocontinue investing inour country.

Winners in all of the 53 categories were honoredwith

the 21st Paint & Pintura Awards, 39 of whichwere for

rawmaterials, eight beingpaint and coatings company

categories, and six for Personality of the Year. As a new

development, AgneloEditorahas added anew rawmaterial

category—Isocyanates. Inaddition, among thevariouspaint

company categories, until last year there used to be the ca-

tegory “Automotive Coatings (OEM&Refinish)”, which has

nowbeen split into two—“AutomotiveOEMCoatings”, and

“AutomotiveRefinishCoatings”.

Paulosite,AkzoNobel has investedR$30million. Thenew

facilitiesarenowgoingtoberesponsibleformanufacturing

business. Constructionon thenew facilities extended for
