was built up in accordancewith the company’s safety and
environmental protection standards. In addition, Elementis
Brazil’s application laboratory is now basically just as good
asElementis’other laboratoriesaround theworld, andeven
exceeds them in certain aspects, and it has all of theequip-
mentweneedsowecanproposeoursolutions,”saysRamiro
Santo,addingthatElementis’newapplication laboratorywill
servecustomersnotonly inBrazil,butalloverLatinAmerica
aswell. “Wehavecustomers inall partsofBrazil, andalso in
Mexico, theCaribbeanandeverySouthAmericancountry.”
Elementis has been selling its products inBrazil for several
years,but thestartof its localmanufacturingoperationshas
sparkedup theprocessof investing in its technical capabili-
ties,whichhasonly justbegun.“Rightnow,asecondapplica-
tion laboratory is under construction at the same location,
but itwill bemore focusedon solvent-based technologies,”
RamiroSantoanticipates.

AnjoQuímica, a companyheadquartered inCriciúma, Santa
Catarina with operations in Brazil’s entire territory, has an
ambitiousplanforthenexteightyears: tobethe largest
domestic paintmanufacturer. To that end, it has been
preparing itself for a few years by investing, breaking
into newmarkets and training its employees. With
R$ 356million in sales for 2013, the company expects
them to increase toR$ 406million this year andhit R$
1 billionby 2022.
Oneofthemainstepstakenbythecompanywasprepa-
ringFilipeR.Colombo,whohadbeenatthecompanyfor
10yearsandhas recentlybeenmadepresident, to suc-
ceedBetoColombo,whohasannouncedhisretirement.
