Gafor Distribuidora has invested R$ 4.5 million in its Jundiaí plant, São Paulo,
ensuring a differentiated customer service and best practices for safety and
environment.
In themarketplace for63years, theGaforgrouphasbeengrowingandbecoming
a benchmark for chemical distribution. The company’s latest major investment
wasmade in itsplant located in thecityof Jundiaí, SãoPaulo. From2010until late
2013,Gafor investedapproximatelyR$4.5million to setup 14carbon steel tanks,
roofing for loadingandunloadingdocksandfillingareas,and independentpumps
and lines for loadingandunloading tanker trucks andfillingdrums and IBCs, and
toadapt theentire terminal forflammableproductsbyacquiring twofirefighting
pumps, foam chambers for product andwater tanks, andnew laboratory equip-
ment, aswell as tomake renovations.
All of these adjustments haveenabledGafor to apply to theNational Petroleum
Agency (ANP) for certificationof its solvent storageanddistributionbase,which
was granted last January. “Whenwe tookover, this Jundiaí terminal was not fit
forflammableproducts, and therewereonlya few tanksand subpar loadingand
unloading facilities.For the future,we intend toexpandourbasebysettingupsix
additional tanks and increasingour storage capacity for packedproducts,” says
Gafor’sbusinessmanager LuizCarlos Silva.

the resultsofasurvey that itcommissioned to IBOPEaboutaerosol containers, for
which consumers were confronted with two packagingmaterials: an aluminum
can, anda steel can.
All it takes is looking at supermarket shelves to see how deodorants, hair care
productsandshaving lathers - the three leadingpersonal careproductcategories -
areabundantlyavailable inaerosol containers.Worldwide, thesearemadeof steel
and aluminum. In Brazil, however, most manufacturers remain resistant to steel
- including thosewhouse steel abroad. They claim that consumersperceivemore
valueon aluminum tubes, which supposedly allows abetter finish, while averting
rust, unlike steel.
However, thesurveycommissionedbyCervifllan,which isengaged in thebusiness
ofmanufacturing steel aerosol cans, and conducted by Ibope Inteligência shows
that thepublicat largehavenoknowledgeof thematerial used in theirdeodorant
